Revolvers
The revolvers are used for security purposes.
This has a cylinder with multiple chambers for holding the cartridges. You have single barrel type revolvers and double barrel type revolvers. Samuel Colt invented the modern revolver and so many models are manufactured in his name. If the hammer is cocked, the cylinder of the revolver revolves to so that this will align the next chamber. This is how it got its name revolver. The cocking of the hammer happens when you pull it back or when you pull the first portion of the trigger in double action types.
The chambers of the modern revolvers have five or six rounds and some models have even ten. They are one of the types of the handguns but include other types such as shot guns, rifles, etc. The firing chambers are arranged in a circular shape so that the cylindrical block aligns with the firing mechanism and barrel. Some models have single firing chamber and follows a different mechanism to load and extract the cartridges.
You have to pull back the hammer of the single action revolver each time. The force needed to pull the trigger is minimal. On the other hand, the self cocking revolvers need long squeeze of the trigger to pull back the hammer. Then the cylinder revolves and fires the shot. Though they could be fired faster, the rate of accuracy is very much less. Most of the revolvers are double action type. You can operate in two modes, single action mode and self cocking mode. The traditional type of revolvers has protruding hammers which might snag on the clothes when drawn. Therefore they have to be concealed when carrying.
Most of the revolvers have 6 shot capacity but some may have even 10 or more.
This depends upon the caliber. Loading a revolver is a slower process because you have to load each chamber manually. You have speed loader type that can reload all of the chambers at a time. The revolvers are simple to operate and are highly reliable.
The revolvers are replaced by semiautomatic pistols in military and police force.
This is mainly due to their lower ammunition capacity. Another reason is taking longer time to reload. So, auto-loading type of pistols is preferred. In the single action revolver, the hammer is cocked manually and in the double action type this could be automated. As you go to advanced model, you will find them pricey.Handguns on sale and top rated handguns.Chek our store for revolvers !
