Types of Handguns
There are various types of handguns available in the market.
You could operate the handguns with one hand and could carry with you. Nearly 38% of all guns in United States are handguns. If you want to know the different types of handguns, there are five different classifications. Each one of them has their unique characteristics in their loading technique, caliber used, number of magazines, etc. The varieties are revolvers, multi-barreled pistols, single shot pistols, automatic pistols and semi-automatic pistols. Though there are slight variations in between pistols and handguns, usually the term is used to denote handguns.
The single shot pistols are the oldest types of handguns and this is considered as the basic model. You could say that this is just like a miniature of the hand held cannon. After discharging one round of ammunition, you have to reload them manually. These types of handguns are often termed as pocket pistols because they could be easily kept in your pocket concealed. Though this model is very old, still they are available in the market and are used for game hunting purposes.
Multi barreled pistols are one of the types of handguns that followed the invention of single shot pistol. They are created in such a way that enables the operator to fire many shots without the necessity of reloading. Some of the popular types of handguns with multi barrels are .467 Enfield, Derringers, Howdah pistols and pepper box guns.
One of the types of handguns that are very popular is revolvers.
This was however invented as early as nineteenth century. This comes with a rotating cartridge filled cylinder. They have cylindrical chamber and they could hold even eight rounds or more. When you depress the trigger the cylinder would rotate so that the chamber gets filled for the fresh round. What makes these types of handguns powerful and unique is their accuracy.
Among these types of handguns, the revolver could be further classified into two types, single action and double action revolvers. The single action revolver needs a thumb cock before you start firing. However you can fire in succession with double action type. These types of handguns are used by the police officers. They are used commonly in wars and crime fighting.
The semi automatic types of handguns use the energy generated during the first discharge to reload the chamber for the next shot.
But the automatic type can fire consecutively with single trigger depression.Handguns on sale and top rated handguns.
